Terms of Use
Effective 11 August 2026
Patrons App shows you people nearby, copies their UPI ID to your clipboard and opens your UPI app so you can paste it. It never touches your money. These terms explain what that means for you and for us.
Not a financial service
Patrons App is a convenience utility, not a finance app. It helps you find people nearby, copies their UPI ID to your clipboard and opens your own UPI app so you can paste it there. That is the whole of what it does.
We never hold, receive, transmit, route, convert, settle or refund money, and we have no visibility into any payment you make. We are not a bank, a non-banking financial company, a prepaid payment instrument issuer, a payment aggregator, a payment gateway, a payment system operator or a third-party application provider, and we are not authorised under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to NPCI, UPI, any bank or any payment application.
Every payment happens entirely inside the third-party UPI app you choose, governed by that app’s terms and your bank’s terms. We charge no fee and take no commission.
You use Patrons App entirely at your own risk. PPLST Tech Private Limited accepts no responsibility or liability of any kind for any payment you make, any loss you suffer, or any transaction initiated after using the App. The App does nothing more than direct you to your own payment application with a UPI ID on your clipboard. What happens after that is between you, that application, your bank and the recipient.
1. Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, form a binding agreement between you and PPLST Tech Private Limited (“we”, “us”) governing your use of the Patrons App mobile application (the “App”). By installing or using the App you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the App. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to hold a bank account in your jurisdiction, to use the App.
2. What the App does
The App uses Bluetooth to show you other Patrons App users physically near you, and lets you tap one of them to copy their UPI ID to your clipboard and open your own UPI payment app, where you paste it. It is a discovery and convenience tool, nothing more.
3. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, limited licence to use one copy of the App on devices you own or control, for your own use, in line with these Terms and your app store’s rules. We keep all rights not expressly granted here, including all intellectual property in the App, its name, its design and its logo.
4. What you must not do
- Impersonate another person, or use a display name intended to make somebody believe they are paying a different person.
- Use the App to solicit payments through deception, or for any unlawful, fraudulent or abusive purpose, including money laundering or the financing of any illegal activity.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
- Copy, modify, rent, lease, sell, sublicense or redistribute the App.
- Interfere with the App, or use it to disrupt, probe or overload another person’s device.
- Collect, harvest, record or republish other users’ broadcast information.
- Use the App for commercial resale, or to build a competing product.
5. Your responsibilities
Check the payee name before you pay
Anyone can broadcast any display name. Before confirming a payment, check the bank-registered account holder name shown by your UPI app. That name comes from the banking system and is the reliable check that you are paying the person you intend to. We cannot verify that a display name matches the owner of a UPI ID, we do not attempt to, and we make no representation that it does.
Your own details
You are responsible for entering your UPI ID correctly and keeping it current. A payment sent to a mistyped or outdated UPI ID may reach somebody else and may be impossible to recover.
Your payments
Every payment you make is your decision and your responsibility. Once you confirm a transfer in your UPI app, it is between you, the recipient, your bank and that app. We cannot cancel, reverse, refund, trace or dispute it, and we have no record of it. Disputes about goods, services or amounts are between you and the other person.
Being visible
While the App is open, your display name is broadcast to nearby devices. By using the App you consent to that. Close the App to stop being visible.
Taxes and compliance
You are responsible for any tax, reporting or regulatory obligation arising from payments you send or receive.
6. Availability
The App depends on Bluetooth hardware, operating system permissions and the other person also running the App with it open. Discovery is not guaranteed. Range, interference, device differences and platform restrictions all affect whether somebody appears. We do not promise the App will be uninterrupted or error free, or that any particular person will be discoverable at any particular moment. We may change, suspend or discontinue the App, or any part of it, at any time and without notice.
7. Third-party apps
The App opens third-party UPI applications. We do not control them, are not responsible for them, and do not endorse them. Their behaviour, availability, fees, terms and privacy practices are their own.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what the App holds and what it shares. In short: everything stays on your device, and we operate no servers.
9. No warranty
The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment or non-infringement. You use the App at your own risk.
10. Use at your own risk, and no liability for payments
Read this before you rely on the App
You use Patrons App entirely at your own risk. PPLST Tech Private Limited accepts no responsibility and no liability, of any kind, for any payment you initiate after using the App, or for any loss, damage, cost or expense arising from it.
The App is a convenience utility. Its entire function is to show you a nearby person, copy their UPI ID to your clipboard and hand you over to your own payment application. It does not make the payment. The moment your payment app opens, the App’s involvement is finished, and it has no knowledge of and no control over anything that follows.
This means that if you pay the wrong person, pay the wrong amount, are deceived by somebody using a false display name, suffer a failed or duplicated transfer, or lose money for any other reason connected to a payment, that loss is yours and not ours. We hold no funds, see no transaction, keep no record, and have no ability to stop, reverse, trace or recover anything.
You are solely responsible for verifying who you are paying before you confirm, using the bank-registered account holder name shown by your own payment app. See Payment Safety.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary damages, or for any loss of money, profits, data, goodwill or business, arising from or connected to your use of the App. This includes, without limitation, any payment made to the wrong person, any payment made on the strength of a display name, any failure to discover a nearby person, any act or omission of another user, and any act, omission, outage or error of a UPI app, bank or payment network.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the App (which, for a free app, is nothing) or INR 1,000.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under applicable law, and nothing limits any non-waivable statutory consumer right you may have.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against any claim, loss or expense arising from your misuse of the App, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of anyone’s rights.
13. Termination
This licence continues until terminated. It ends automatically if you breach these Terms, and you may end it at any time by uninstalling the App. Sections 9, 10, 11, 12 and 15 survive termination.
14. App Store terms
Where you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, the following also applies:
- This agreement is between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the App.
- If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to a legal requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar legislation.
- Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, settling or discharging any third-party claim that the App infringes intellectual property rights.
- You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on any US Government restricted-parties list.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you.
Where you obtained the App from Google Play, Google Play’s Terms of Service also apply, and Google is not a party to this agreement.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Gurgaon, Haryana, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any consumer protection rights you have that cannot be waived.
16. General
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor. These Terms are the entire agreement between us regarding the App.
17. Changes
We may update these Terms. The effective date above will change and, for anything material, we will note it in the App. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept it.
