Privacy Policy
Effective 11 August 2026
Patrons App has no servers, no accounts and no analytics. Everything you enter stays on your phone. We cannot see your name, your UPI ID, your photo or your payments, because none of it is ever sent to us.
Not a financial service
Patrons App is a convenience utility, not a finance app. It helps you find people nearby, copies their UPI ID to your clipboard and opens your own UPI app so you can paste it there. That is the whole of what it does.
We never hold, receive, transmit, route, convert, settle or refund money, and we have no visibility into any payment you make. We are not a bank, a non-banking financial company, a prepaid payment instrument issuer, a payment aggregator, a payment gateway, a payment system operator or a third-party application provider, and we are not authorised under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to NPCI, UPI, any bank or any payment application.
Every payment happens entirely inside the third-party UPI app you choose, governed by that app’s terms and your bank’s terms. We charge no fee and take no commission.
You use Patrons App entirely at your own risk. PPLST Tech Private Limited accepts no responsibility or liability of any kind for any payment you make, any loss you suffer, or any transaction initiated after using the App. The App does nothing more than direct you to your own payment application with a UPI ID on your clipboard. What happens after that is between you, that application, your bank and the recipient.
The short version. Your profile is stored only in your phone’s local app storage. Your display name is broadcast over Bluetooth to nearby phones while the app is open. Your UPI ID and photo are sent directly to one nearby phone, over Bluetooth, only when that person taps you to pay. Nothing travels over the internet, and nothing reaches us or any third party. Uninstalling the app deletes everything.
1. Who this covers
This policy applies to the Patrons App mobile application for Android and iOS, published by PPLST Tech Private Limited (“we”, “us”). It does not cover the separate UPI payment app you choose to complete a payment in. That app has its own privacy policy, and your payment is governed by it.
2. What the app holds, and where
All of the following is written to your device’s standard app storage and never leaves it except as described in section 3.
| What | Why it exists |
|---|---|
| Your display name | So nearby people can recognise you |
| Your UPI ID (VPA) | So somebody can pay you without asking for it |
| Your profile photo (optional) | So you are easier to pick out on the radar |
| A random 6-character device code | So the same person is not shown twice when Bluetooth rotates its address. Generated on your phone and tied to nothing about you |
| Appearance and setup preferences | So the app opens the way you left it |
We collect no device identifiers, advertising IDs, IP addresses, contacts, call logs, messages, location coordinates, usage analytics or crash reports.
3. What is shared over Bluetooth
Broadcast to everyone nearby: your name only
While the app is open on screen, your phone broadcasts a small Bluetooth packet containing your display name and your random device code. Any nearby phone running Patrons App can see it. That is how you appear on someone else’s radar.
Because this is an open broadcast, treat your display name as public. Use whatever name you are comfortable with strangers in the same room seeing.
Sent only on request: your UPI ID and photo
Your UPI ID and profile photo are not broadcast. They are held back and sent only to the specific device of a person who taps you in order to pay you, over a direct, short-lived Bluetooth connection. Somebody merely standing nearby cannot collect them.
A UPI ID is not a secret. It is the same string people print on a QR code and display at a shop counter, and it cannot be used to withdraw money from you. We hold it back from the broadcast so it cannot be harvested in bulk, not because it is confidential.
What is never shared
The Bluetooth exchange carries nothing else. No location, no contacts, no device identifiers, no payment history.
4. Visibility is tied to the app being open
You are visible only while Patrons App is open on your screen. Close it, switch apps or lock your phone and broadcasting stops immediately. The app declares no background modes and does not run when you are not looking at it. This behaves identically on Android and iOS.
5. Permissions, and why each is needed
- Bluetooth / Nearby devices. Needed to find people around you and to let them find you. The app cannot function without it.
- Location (Android 11 and older only). On those versions of Android the operating system requires location permission before any app may scan for Bluetooth devices. We ask for it solely to satisfy that requirement. Patrons App never reads, stores or transmits your location. On Android 12 and newer it is not requested at all.
- Camera and Photo Library (optional). Only used if you choose to set a profile photo. The image is resized on your phone and saved locally.
6. Payments
Patrons App does not process, hold, route or see money. Tapping someone copies their UPI ID to your clipboard and opens your own UPI app. Everything after that, the payee, the amount, your PIN, the transfer itself, happens inside your UPI app and your bank, and never touches Patrons App. See the Legal Notice.
7. Your clipboard
When you tap someone, the app writes their UPI ID to your device clipboard so you can paste it into your payment app. That is the only thing Patrons App ever puts on your clipboard, and it never reads your clipboard for any reason.
Two things are worth knowing, and neither is specific to us. The clipboard is shared with every app on your phone, so a UPI ID sitting there can be read by other apps until you copy something else; and iOS may show a banner when a payment app pastes it. A UPI ID is not a secret — it is the same string people print on a QR code and put on a shop counter — but if you would rather not leave it there, copy anything else afterwards and it is gone.
8. Third parties
There are none. The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash reporting service, no social login and no tracking of any kind. No data is sold, shared or disclosed, because no data is collected. We do not engage in “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we have never sold personal information.
9. Children
See our Children’s Privacy Policy.
10. Keeping your data, and deleting it
Your information is kept on your device for as long as the app is installed. Change or clear your name, UPI ID or photo in Settings at any time, or uninstall the app to erase everything permanently. Full instructions are on the Data Deletion page.
11. Security
Your profile is stored using your operating system’s standard app storage, which other apps cannot read. The Bluetooth exchange is a direct device-to-device connection and is not encrypted, so it is deliberately limited to the data described in section 3 and nothing more sensitive.
Anyone can broadcast any name. Before you confirm a payment, check the bank-registered account holder name that your UPI app displays. See Payment Safety.
12. International users
Because no data is transmitted to us or to any server, there is no international transfer of personal data to disclose. Regional rights are covered on the GDPR & UK Rights and CCPA / CPRA Rights pages.
13. Changes
If this policy changes we will update the effective date above and, for anything material, note it in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
